Fragments of the Soul's Shadow
Translated by : Zakazia Lahlou and Pamela Nice
"I saw Death hiding his face
Riding a horse
Tethering his horse to a palm tree
The horse becomes an ant
Goes into my body
My voice is an oven
Life for it is an onion
We are a truth for Death
Waiting to face Mecca
Every death renews our age
The wind is a soap singing
Trees are town criers without voices
Light has a henna
Speech doesn't sleep
Everyone tries to trick Death
But I live day by day
Whoever denies that Death exits
And wants to live forever
Can see his face in the clouds
Even as water splashes, some of it remains
The spirit goes, and leaves us watching
I say, Good-bye, my mind
The walls start to dance
Snow's sweat shines in the eyes of the dead
See you tomorrow
Life or death."
